awareness, and joyful engagement through sensory-motor activities.

Body Exploration Sessions” Program Overview

Length: 30–60 minutes
Frequency: 1–3x/week
Facilitator Role: Movement Coach
What to expect in a session

Each session follows a consistent, intentional pattern

Ohana-Days-Photo
Warm-Up (5–10 minutes)
  • Light stretching with music
  • Free movement with scarves or ribbons
  • “Follow the leader” games using basic motor patterns

Core Exploration (20–30 minutes)
  • Sensory Walks: Walking barefoot on various textures (mats, grass rugs, squish pads)
  • Movement Stations: Climbing, crawling, or swinging on sensory-safe equipment
  • Mirror Moves: Participant copies coach’s slow or expressive movements—play based

Expression & Choice (5–10 minutes)
  • Participant picks movement tools (e.g., yoga ball, weighted blanket, fidget toy)
  • Optional guided breathing or body squeeze
  • Option to journal, draw, or dictate a reflection on what felt “fun,” “hard,” or “interesting”

Our goals for sessions are to

  • Support sensory regulation through safe, structured movement
  • Increase participant agency through choice-based sessions
  • Encourage creative expression through motor play
  • Build awareness of personal preferences and boundaries

These sessions do not assess motor deficits or progress
Participation is documented, not outcomes
